Surgical Hair Restoration: Hair Transplant Surgery
Hair transplant surgery is a procedure that involves removing hair follicles in the form of either long strips or small, round, circular grafts from one area of the body (the donor site) and transplanting them to an area on the body that is balding or completely bald.
Gratfs tend to carry their genetics along with them, enabling hair growth in their new location. For patients with “pattern baldness,” also known as “male pattern baldness,” “woman pattern baldness,” or Alopecia areata, using hair on the back of the head, just above the nape as donor hairs is the most ideal situation because these hairs are likley to never fall out.
