Preparing for Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair loss patients who have consulted a medical professional, and have decided to undergo hair transplant surgery are recommended to follow certain steps before surgery.

It is recommended that patients who will be undergoing hair transplant surgery do the following:

1-2 weeks before surgery

Stop drinking alcohol.

Preferably stop or limit smoking

Do not take Aspirin or any other anti-inflammatory medications.

Do not use hair growth treatments

Do not take any multivitamins including vitamin B and vitamin E

Do not have permanent waves, hair coloring, or hair relaxing procedures.

1-3 days before surgery

Start taking any antibiotics if they are prescribed by your surgeon.

Stop using any skin creams, such as Retin-A

Get lots of rest! 

Stop any exercise as recommended by your surgeon.

Wash you hair with an antiseptic / antibacterial soap / shampoo each day for the two or three days prior to the hair transplant.

Do not use hair gel or mousse, or hairspray.

 

On the day of hair transplant surgery

Wash your hair with an antiseptic / antibacterial soap / shampoo. Do not use hair gel or mousse, or hairspray. Take antibiotics if they are prescribed by the clinic.

Have a normal breakfast. It may be best to avoid caffeine so you are as relaxed as possible for the procedure. Your surgeon may ask you not to eat in the 6-12 hours prior to surgery, Please confirm with your doctor.

Wear clothes that can be removed without pulling them over your head. es.

If you wear contact lenses, eyeglasses, or dentures, bring the case with you and be sure that your name is clearly printed on it.

Use the restroom before your procedure. There will be long periods sitting and resting before removing the donor area and for implanting the hair follicles. You will not be able to use the restroom during this procedure.
