What is the FOX test?

The fox test is used before the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method is proceeded. This test is used to determine if the follicular units can be removed easily. Biopsies are performed under local anesthesia, and a few follicular units are removed.

These follicles are then examined microscopically to make sure they are adequate for the Follicular Unit Extraction procedure. If the test is positive the follicles can be removed without transecting them.

If negative, another alternative can be discussed with the hair transplant surgeon.
