What about hair regrowth? Why not regrow hair?
Hair regrowth is a commonly used alias for medical hair restoration. Even though there are many advertisements on the web and emails regarding various ""remedies"" for hair loss and how to regrow your hair quick spams, they have no clinically proven effectiveness. The only two medications that have proven to have any degree of effectiveness at all are Rogaine (Minoxidil) and Propecia(Finasteride).
Rogaine is an FDA approved treatment for women as well as men for 2% (5% is not FDA approved for women). Even though it is a treatment, it is not a solution since its results are temporary. Main disadvantages of Minoxidil are:
- It is not a solution for hair loss, it is just a temporary hair regrowth treatment, which will only have effects on the long term. And even if used continuously, if stopped using, most probably you will be losing all the hair you have regrown.
- It is considered as a cosmetic. Because of that it is not covered by health insurance and it is very costly over the long term.
- Its hair regrowth effectiveness is limited, and this effectiveness is even further reduced at the hairline and larger bald spots.
- Its effects may diminish over time, since your body can build up a tolerance after frequent use for prolonged time.
even though Rogaine is not a permanent solution, it maybe given to the patients for the first few weeks after the initial hair transplantation as a supplement for the growth of transplanted hair grafts similar to other supplementary hair loss products. You can check Rogaine For Men and Rogaine For Women for more information.
The second option Propeciahas also some serious disadvantages in addition to not being approved for women.
- Propecia as well is not a solution for hair loss, it is just a temporary hair regrowth treatment, which will only have effects on the long term. And even if used continuously, if stopped using, most probably you will be losing all the hair you have regrown within a year as well.
- It stops testosterone from converting to male androgen sexual hormone. It may cause sexual side effects like reduced desire for sex, erection problems, reduced semen amount.
- It is expensive to use this drug as well over the long term.
