Which hair transplant method is better?

Most hair restoration professionals feel that Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) method produces better and more consistent results. This is because Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) places extra force on the follicles during the extraction process.

Leading hair restoration physicians who also perform Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) feel that Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) may be a viable option for some patients and can produce results just as optimal as Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). Most patients who require larger hair transplants however, are directed toward the Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) method.

Usually more follicular units can be harvested and transplanted in a single session. This decreases the amount of surgeries needed to meet a patient’s goals. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) methods is usually attractive to patients who want to avoid a linear scar. Keeping in mind that hair follicles will produce a small circular scar where the hair follicle is removed. In the best cases, scarring is hardly noticeable in both Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) cases, even when hair is trimmed short.
