Do I have to shave my head before hair transplant surgery?

For maximum results it is recommended for the recipient area to be shaved. This can change depending on the patient and the surgeon. However, in order to achieve the most natural hair regrowth results, hair transplant surgeons want the new hair to match as perfectly as possible. The incisions made into the recipient area must be parallel to the direction of the hair follicles already present. This is only possible when the hair transplant patient head is shaved and the scalp is revealed.

If not shaved, the hair transplant surgeon must move the hair in order to make the incisions. When this is done it is very hard to match the angles, which may cause it to be distorted.
